“Indian policy” has now been brought down upon the American people, and the American people are the new Indians of the 21st Century.

I don’t feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them. There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves.

People in millenniums ahead will know what we were like in the 1930’s and the thing that, the important major things that shaped our history at that time. This is as important for historic reasons as any other.

It is, I believe, the greatest generation any society has ever produced.

One cannot and must not try to erase the past merely because it does not fit the present.

A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.

The present was an egg laid by the past that had the future inside its shell.

And of course there is so much of World War II that is documented that we never have seen.
